Description

Examines aspects of the physics, geology, biology and chemistry of the coastal ocean. Describes and explains fundamental features and processes of the coastal ocean, including waves, tides and tsunamis, beach erosion, wind-driven upwelling, El Niño, and climate change. Uses and analyzes online data sources to gain experience interpreting and displaying data about conditions in the coastal ocean. Evaluates relationships between wind, waves, currents, and the response of the coastal ocean to predict short- and long-term variability.
